Zahid: Continue aiding flood victims

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 15 – UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said flood assistance to the victims involved was not only confined when their homes were flooded but post-flood assistance should also be doubled.
According to the Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, this is because the post-flood shows not only homes but all equipment will also be destroyed, apart from needing assistance from various parties in the cleaning process and so on.
“Floods do not know political parties and floods also do not know the races – floods must be faced by not only the government but also Malaysians.
“The concern of Malaysians is very welcome and of course the contribution this morning for flood victims is our manifestation of setting aside political differences,” he told UMNO Online.
Earlier, Ahmad Zahid who is also the Member of Parliament for Bagan Datuk witnessed the flood relief mission for the state of Pahang, here today.
Furthermore, Ahmad Zahid also thanked the parties involved in providing assistance to individuals and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
“We hope not only NGOs but individuals also need to come forward in helping out the flood victims.
“What is important is not only the during flood season but also the heavier post-flood efforts where houses need repair and many equipment should also be replaced, while cleaning process should also be done. I hope such contributions continue after the flood,” he said.
