KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 29 – UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said UMNO/Barisan Nasional (BN) has always adhered to the supremacy of democracy.

That is why the BN government did not block the registration of PPBM (Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia). “That’s how gentleman UMNO is. Those who are not democratic and not ‘gentlemen’ are those are trying to cancel UMNO registration.

“We still defend the party for the sake of our beloved religion and nation,” he said in a Facebook posting today.

Referring to a newspaper clipping entitled ‘RoS rejects Pejuang party registration’, Zahid who is also BN chairman, slammed a ‘certain party’ which was initially angry with the Registrar of Societies (RoS) for not approving their party registration.

“They used to say that too many political parties in Malaysia are not good for democracy. The reality is, new splinter parties from UMNO were formed by the same people carrying UMNO DNA.

“Everything is for their personal gain,” he said.

He added UMNO remains as it is and will forever serve the people, country and religion.

“Together with BN component parties, we formed the idea of ​​a prosperous Malaysia,” he said.

For the record, Pejuang or its full name Parti Pejuang Tanah Air was established in August last year by former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who is also the founder of PPBM.

However, the RoS rejected it’s registration earlier this month.
