KUALA LUMPUR, March 4 – Information Chief Shahril Hamdan stressed that there should be no more disputes on UMNO’s political direction since the party has made decisions on two major issues.
He was referring to Supreme Council decisions not to cooperate with PPBM in GE-15, and the party willingness to continue supporting the Perikatan Nasional government until the dissolution of Parliament.
“It is now up to the leadership and members to convince others in ensuring that UMNO is on the right track being the best choice for them in facing the country’s future after GE15. It is in the end, with God’s permission, the people will decide the fate of all political parties at the ballot boxes,” he said in a statement, today.
Shahrir who is also Pemuda Umno Deputy Chief said prior to GE-15, UMNO and its Members of Parliament will continue supporting the Perikatan Nasional government by playing their respective roles for the benefit of the people.
“In the context of mature politics, of course UMNO will respect the decisions of other parties as they also need to respect our decision,” he added.
Earlier, UMNO Secretary General Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan today said the Supreme Council had unanimously gve consent for the party President sending a letter to the PPBM President to state the decision, namely:
i. There is no cooperation with PPBM in GE-15; and
ii. UMNO will stay with Perikatan Nasional until Parliament is dissolved.
