KUALA LUMPUR, March 12 – The UMNO General Assembly this year has sets its own history since it will be carried out virtually for the first time, said UMNO Secretary General Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.
“This is the first time in UMNO history that we will hold a face-to-face virtual conference,” he said in an interview when touring the preparations for the general assembly, today.
The Pontian Member of Parliament said although it will be carried out virtually, he hoped the party delegates at respective divisions will take note of any proposals voiced out at the conference.
“I hope they listen to all debates beginning speeches of the president, deputy president and debates by their respective reps that will be broadcast virtually to their respective divisions.
“We expect them to be at their locations and listen carefully,” he added.
Although the general assembly this time has been postponed due to Covid-19, it didn’t deter their spirit in ensuring that PAU2020 will be a success.
“We have amended the date of the UMNO General Assembly twice due to the Movement Control Order and also the emergency. We will not delay it any longer, we have informed the Registration of Societies Department (RoS)
about the procedure that we will do.”
