ALOR SETAR, March 18 – UMNO Vice President Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said the party General Assembly this time should act as the main arena for members strengthen UMNO in run-up to the 15th General Election.

He said this was because unity is an essence and a benchmark for the party to face the election amid the country’s political uncertainty.

“This general assembly can be a place where we all rise with enthusiasm and with determination. Most important to have strong solidarity in UMNO in facing the election and current political scenario,” he said when met recently.

Mahdzir, who is also the Member of Parliament for Padang Terap, said every delegate attending the division meeting should appreciate the essence of the debate for the benefit of the party.

“I also hope we can listen well since many people have expected general election be held this year. All UMNO leaders at the divisions and delegates level can hear policy speeches from the party president.”

He added that although this PAU will be from the previous one due to the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic, there is no excuse to deter it.

“Even virtually, I hope we can really listen to it,” he added.
