Don’t flip-flop on interstate travel – Zahid

KUALA LUMPUR, Apr 17 – The Health Ministry proposal to postpone interstate travel during Aidilfitri has upset the public and it’s proper if the government decides on it now, said UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi .
He said, the matter must be attended to clearly as it could be met with public uproar as had happened in the  implementation of home learning (PDPR).
For Muslims who are now performing their Ramadan duty, they hope interstate travel will be allowed to celebrate Hari Raya in their hometowns. “What’s more, they have not been allowed to go home to visit the elderly in the village for too long.
“However, the increase in daily Covid-19 cases at the beginning of Ramadan is very worrying. Not that, it would be an excuse that interstate travel will not be allowed,” he said in a FB posting.
As such, he said it would be better for the government make a decision now. What is important is not to flip-flop or any inconvenience to the public, especially those who had already purchased transportation tickets.
“Some may have bought bus and plane tickets. Decision must be made now, not be like the Chipsmore advertisement, it will definitely be difficult,” he said.
