Stop giving excuses: Zahid tells government

KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 – Umno supports both statements issued by Office of the Keeper of Rulers that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Malay Rulers have instructed for the reconvening of Parliament session soon.

Its president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said, it is an urgent need for the sitting to resume as it is the highest platform to discuss and debate issues pertaining to Covid-19 and ensuring accountability in the administration.

“There is no need to give excuses by stating ‘as soon as possible’ or ‘immediately’ on the Parliament sitting when The King has issued a decree.

“Umno stand is firm and we urge the the government to heed The King’s and Rulers’ call, hence it should be done within 14 days from today.

“The government’s refusal to do so is akin to treacherous and against the King and the Malay Rulers,” he said.

Zahid added that as a party strictly upholds the Constitutional Monarchy (as envisaged in Article 3 of the party Constitution), a Supreme Working Committee meeting will be held soon to finalise Umno decision.
