Upholding the Constitutional Monarchy – Mohamad Hasan

KUALA LUMPUR, June – Deputy President Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan reaffirms that Umno has long defended the monarchy institution and democracy must be restored by resuming the Parliment sitting.

He said The King’s order for the sitting be called immediately is in line with the view of the Malay Rulers as per statement issued by the Keeper of Rulers recently.

“When the president gave a 14-day ultimatum for the sitting, I have two thing in mind. Firstly, it fully supported the monarchy, and secondly, to restore democracy by reconvening the Parliament.

“God willing, it will further be deliberated by the Supreme Council,” he said in a FB posting, today.

The Rantau State Assemblyman is also of the view that Parliament is the best platform to separate the power doctrine.

“At the Parliament, anything can be debated accordingly to the stipulated rules. There are regulation as to what issue should be debated and what shouldn’t.

“I am of the opinion that whatever decisions made by the party must refer to mandates given by the General Assembly and a collective consensus by the Supreme Council.

This includes Umno position in the government, to reject cooperation with individual or party deemed not suitable for Umno.

“All resolutions of the GA are valid and now its up to the Supreme Council to expedite it,” he said.
