KUALA LUMPUR, July 8 – Deputy President Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said Umno must step into the people’s hardships, not power and position but because it’s struggle is solely for them.
He said the party was never founded for the sake of other than the interests of the Malays and Malaysians, Islam, the monarchy and the nation.
“This will continue to be our stand and as a political party, the clarity of a stand is very important because without one, Umno is only a registered party, not a struggle.
“Therefore, in a state of this great slump, we must come up with a stand. Their failures are is not our doing. Our stand must be based on aspirations of the people and for the sake of the people.
“When the health system worsens, the economy collapses and deteriorates, poverty increases, the number of suicides is on the rise, hunger has become a reality, democracy is distorted, even the Monarchy is opposed with immorality, Umno cannot be blamed as part of it,” he said in a FB posting.
Mohamad further stressed that Umno will not deviate from the prioritizing the people, the country and the party.
“To all members, including those in remote villages and borders or on the most remote islands, in cities and towns throughout the country, rest assured that the party will not turn its back on them.
“No individual is bigger than Umno… there is no power greater than the people’s power and no struggle is more meaningful than the struggle for the people.
Umno yesterday withdrew support for Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin after its Supreme Council meeting.
