KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 – Vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said Malaysia is now in a constitutional crisis and Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s statement yesterday will only worsen the situation.
According to him, Umno elected representatives have only one choice, which is to support the order of His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong with all his soul and body.
“Umno will not and should not be dragged into this conflict. Umno’s commitment from the beginning of its establishment, is, among others, to defend the institution of the King. Any action that is not in line with this commitment is against the values, stance and struggle of UMNO.
“The way out of all this is for Umno to work on the establishment of an Interim Government. Leaving the Perikatan Nasional is better and more strategic than turning one’s back on national interests in this time of crisis. We cannot abandon the nation for them,” he said in a FB posting.
“Umno must use this opportunity to provide the leadership that augurs well for the country and the people. We must save Malaysia by working on the establishment of an Interim Government with only three mandates.
“Managing the country’s economy, managing the health crisis and administering the country in order to prepare it for the 15th General Election (GE). This Interim Government will cease after GE,” he said.
Similarly, he said Parliament must continue to sit, freedom of the media and social media guaranteed, every government decision and expenditure must be tabled in Parliament in the interest of check and balance and the function of the Constitution must be fully restored.
“Umno elected representatives must vote. Be with the King and the people or with the Prime Minister and PN.”
