KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22 – Party President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he never succumbed to any threats and pressure to defunct Umno since its defeat in the 14th general election.
In fact, he remained committed, including undergoing a court process to clear his name from all allegations.
“Let alone thinking of abandoning the party and seek refuge in others.
“Allah SWT says: Indeed, the truth is from your Lord and do not be among those who are in doubtful “- quoting al-Baqarah, verse 147 in a FB posting.
He explained that the country has its judiciary and it is for everyone to respect and trust it, and what’s important is not making any statement that will taken as a contempt of court.
“If I don’t answer any question to my case, it does not mean there is no answer. The rule of law must be respected. Malaysia is a constitutional country,” he said.
However, the Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman said that unfortunately there are parties who are still not satisfied and refuse to respect the principles of law.
“It’s about innocent until proven guilty. They can’t accept it. They thought whoever produced in court is guilty. They come up with their own verdict.
“God willing, as Umno president, I will remain calm and composed in facing the court,” he said.
