Umno upholds King’s consent, to fully support PM

MEDIA STATEMENT

The Supreme Council meeting on August 27 has passed resolutions to:

1. Pay its highest tribute to His Royal Highness the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for his consent to appoint The Right Honorable Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob as the country’s 9th prime minister.

2. To fully support his appointment as a premier by providing him, who is also Umno vice-president with all the assistances needed in ensuring a smooth administration.

3. Among issues discussed and agreed upon by the PM were:

i. To respond positively to the King’s call for a cooperation among all States to revive the economy, containing Covid-19 and ensuring the well being of the people.

ii. The new government should give more focus towards fighting the pandemic and vaccination as to bring down the number of death and achieving a herd community standard.

iii. The new government should attend to the well being of the people, including beefing up the assistance packages (BPN, BPR and BKC), interest-free moratorium and a one-off RM10,000 i-Citra withdrawal for small and medium industries muchly affected by the pandemic.

iv. Continue using the KELUARGA MALAYSIA motto and no more Perikatan Nasional since this is a loose cooperation between Barisan Nasional (Umno, MCA, MIC and PBRS) and Perikatan Nasional parties (namely PPBM, PAS and STAR) and GPS and PBS.

v. To defend the Parliamentary Democracy as the check and balance agent to the government.

vi. Immediate establishment of Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on Tommy Thomas’s allegation over political interference in the Attorney-General institutions, the Judiciary and Security which are the pillars of the Constitution and Law.

4. Umno must play leading role in the government’s reformation efforts, including a more efficient Parliament, a more transparent administration, political fund, an Anti-Party Hopping Act, political interference in certain institutions, including the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission, police and others.
