KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 30 – Party headquarters has received a letter from the Department of Registrar of Societies (JPPM/RoS) which decided that the decision to postpone Umno’s election for the 2021/2023 term has been made in an orderly manner.
Secretary-General Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said election for the Supreme Working Council (MKT), divisions and branches were postponed to a date that will be notified to the RoS before 29 December 2022.
“I received a letter in the late afternoon of 30 August 2021 from the Registrar of Societies (ROS) Director-General Jasri Kasim, with its reference as PPM/WKL 251/88 JLD. 11 (1).
“Based on the review of the additional evidence and documents that I and Umno lawyers provided on August 9, August 11, August 18 and some testimonies of MKT on August 24, it is found that the decision to postpone the election was made in an orderly manner,” he said in a statement today.
However, he said annual meetings for branches, divisions and the General Assembly (without election) with a 1/4 quorum attendance still need to be held in 2021 and the dates will be announced later.
He expressed his gratitude to all parties who were patience in the matter, including RoS who provided cooperation to Umno.
“Thank you to the President, his Deputy, Vice Presidents, MKT Members for providing guidance and also the party members for their patience.
“Thank you to KP RoS and his officers who have provided good cooperation throughout our review and meeting.”
