Umno-Pas seat distribution talks is at 70 per cent

SEREMBAN, Sept 3 – The understanding between Umno and PAS on the distribution of seats for the 15th General Election (GE15) has reached 70 per cent through several Muafakat Nasional (MN) meetings held previously.
Deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said through the understanding, any party that won a constituency in GE14 would retain it in GE15.
“Indeed, every time we meet, we discuss about the preparations for GE15 at the MN level. We also have a seat distribution committee. We met many times, an understanding of almost 70 per cent was reached, like I said the seats we won will stay with we had, so are the seats they won.
“The formula is still the same, there is no question for us to change it,” he told reporters after attending the First Conference (Inauguration) of the Fourth Term of the 14th State Legislative Assembly today.
The Rantau State Assemblyman said the next MN meeting would be held in the near future after it was postponed several times due to the Movement Control Order (PKP).
Meanwhile, Mohamad said no issue had arisen regarding the absence of his name in the Cabinet line-up under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said the responsibility as a minister in the country’s situation facing the Covid-19 pandemic was not an easy task and he would continue to support the current government.
“I wish you good luck, the priority now is to continue working in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic crisis, the economy and there is no time to procrastinate anymore.
“I hope the appointed ministers can carry out their duties well. There is a lot of wisdom in this cabinet, it is not easy to be a minister in this crisis situation. As the number two person in the party, I will support the government ” he said. – BERNAMA
