KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15 – Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is determined to continue defending the party and ensuring its remains as the people’s asset forever.

He warned that Umno cannot be arbitrarily used as a stepping stone by outsiders who are power-greedy.

“Any cooperation with others must be based on an in-depth analysis and of the benefits of Malaysia and its society.

“As the party president, it is my duty to defend this party. Umno identity is the people’s party and their interest is above all,” he said in a FB posting.

He said any agreement must look after the interest of the Malaysian society.

“Especially in the 15th General Election (GE-15) because it will determine whether Umno can return to power,” he said.

The BN chairman also said if Umno is involved with other parties that are oriented towards power, position and cronies only, it will bring harm to the party as it deviates from the people’s aspiration.

“We have seen how the 22-month government tried to demonise this party but eventually collapsed on its own. Similarly, political parties trying to control Umno over the past 18 months have also failed.

“We will continue to ensure the dignity and identity of Umno and at the same time prepare it for GE15.”
