KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 – Umno will defend the Parliament and State Assembly (DUN) seats it won in the last general election, said party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
He said this was a unanimous decision by the party Supreme Working Council (MKT) meeting last year.
“Umno will not compromise on any seat it has won in the 14th General Election (GE-14). This decision is not only by MKT but it also the voice of the grassroots who want us to become dominant again after GE-15,” said the Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman in a Facebook posting.
The Bagan Datuk MP explained that being dominance does not mean arrogance but the obligation to restore Umno as a party that is the core of government administration.
He added that Umno is the largest Malay party and the largest party in the country, so its victory is very significant in ensuring strong stability.
“And of course we are aware that there will be other parties contesting in the same constituency. This is normal in a democracy. But never underestimate Umno’s strength.”
He also said that the people have understood between truth and lies after the government change after GE-14.
“They clearly see what happened after GE-14. Bananas do not bear fruit twice. Enough of what they had undergone since May 9, 2018.”
