KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 6 – Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi finally explains the status of Muafakat Nasional inked with PAS on 14 September 2019.

“So many asked me about it. My answer is, we in Umno had done our best. However, it needs two to tango. So, let democracy decides on its course in the 15th general election.

“This is not about greed but let is be a free for all. Umno too is not rigid. There are still rooms to work on a true Muafakat Nasional if PAS is willing to.

‘Many hope for it but as at now Umno must face the reality,” he said in a FB posting.

Firstly, The 2020 General Assembly affirmed its stand not to colaberate with PPBM in GE15. This manifests the voice of our grassroots.

They grassroots have a valid reason to reject PPBM as they are aware of the motive behind its establishment in September 2016.

On top of that, PAS leaders had declared their loyalty to PPBM and its president Tan Sri Mahiaddin Yasin after joining Perikatan Nasional when they knew the agenda behind the establishment of PPBM as of Parti Amanah Negara (PAN).

Secondly, Umno cannot forever bank its hope on MN in making preparation for GE15. The shaky position can disrupt Umno’s strategy.

We have to face the fact.

Third, many bipartisan are of the view that Umno was betrayed, and if its true, then its fine. Umno will continue contesting under the BN logo with its sincere partners.

I am sure BN will come out stronger in GE15 after what had befall the people in GE14.

Fourth, PN with PPBM and PAS had already avowed their partnership, and has reached a solution to their seat distribution. Its time for Umno to move on and avoid uncertainty.

Fifth,  Didn’t Umno try its best to salvage the real MN. The answer is, we always work for it but PAS did not show its commitment. Let democracy works its course in GE15.

We must face the fact.
