KUALA LUMPUR, May 16 – Information Chief Shahril Hamdan said the amendment to the party’s Constitution is to consolidate Umno further as it can’t afford to have so many factions, which will affect its struggle for the people.
Only a solid unity, he said, can be achieved when all differences are ironed out.
“Malaysians are longing for stability, as what we had offered in Melaka and Johor state elections. For that very reason, the Extraordinary Meeting was held to amend the Constitution, in conjunction with the party’s 76th anniversary.
“The message by (President) Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi can instill more zest to the respective delegates in preparing the party for GE15,” said the Youth deputy head.
The team in Umno now are those who have been the thicks and thins of its struggle.
“They are the ones who never bowed out to pressure. In fact, the rose to occasion,” he said.
