KUALA LUMPUR, Jul 27 – The Anti-Hopping Law under the Constitution amendment which started its debate at the Parliament today must be supported by all MPs, said Youth Chief Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajda Dusuki.

Item 40 of the Constitution, he said will bar any representative elected from leaving his own party and joining others for the sake of position and so on.

In a FB posting, he said such an action will lead to political instability, and as such they must serve full 5-year term or else will lose their seat.

“We need to look into it. If any reps hop to other party, he will be stripped of his position,” he said.

Umno, he added is consistent with the stand as it was the worst hit by party-hopping.
