Door is closed to party hopping – Zahid

KUALA LUMPUR, 29 July – Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi lauded the approval of the Constitution (Amendment) Bill (No 3) 2022 related to the ban on party hopping.
The Barisan Nasional (BN) Chairman said the approval at the Dewan Rakyat will be a prelude to stop the act of political betrayal.
“Umno is the biggest victim of the ‘frog’ phenomenon when a number of its representatives crossover to other parties after the 14th General Election (GE-14).
“Some were chasing positions, some were afraid of threats. Their politics is not about struggling for the people after all,” he said in a FB posting.
“The sky is not always bright. What you give you get back.
“The Anti Party-Hopping Act will also benefit the country in reducing the opportunities for tyrants only wanting power.”
Puteri Chief Datuk Zahida Zarik Khan in supporting the move, said the Act was victory for the people.
She said the people really want the country’s democratic system to be repaired after it was damaged due to the madness of MPs jumping around for their own interests.
“The people are fed up with the endless political crisis, disgusted with the ‘frogs’ that cause a loss of stability in the government and the country,” she said.
