UMNO Youth wants the party to be fully cleansed of elements that are detrimental to the party. These include ‘traitors and ‘enemies within.

Its chief Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said in his policy speech at the party’s General Assembly today, there were Umno leaders who had openly criticised and campaigned against party president Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

“I cannot imagine how some leaders who, for years, have been living lavishly off the hard work of the party members, (and now) chose to attack the party and its leadership just because they did not get picked as candidate (in the 15th General Election),” he said to cheers from the floor.

Asyraf said there were also some candidates who chose to be ‘heroes’ by attacking the party in their campaigns.
