Stimulus package for SME should augur well to the economy

THE RM10 billion additional allocation in aid for the Small and Medium-Scaled Entrepreneurs (SME) as announced by the prime minister is seen as timely, comprehensive and meets the objective.

The package is a radical move to stimulate the SME and revitalize the economy. The government’s measure in assisting the SME indicates how much it listens and consider the woes of the rakyat, particularly the petty traders and SMEs.

This initiative also proves the government’s recognition for SME contribution to the economic growth.

According to the Statistic Department, the SME contributed 38.3 per cent or RM521.7 billion to Malaysia Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2018.

It is hoped the aid will reduce the burden of the entrepreneurs and in securing the nation’s two-third workforce remains intact.

However, I would also like to remind them of the government limitation in meeting with all their demands.

Although the government has taken into consideration their predicaments, it must consider the country’s monetary ability.

With the present monetary capability, the government has shown its strong commitment in ensuring that no sectors of the community is neglected of the aid.
