UMNO Malaysia today presented UMNO Day Award to the fcontliners fighting against Covid-19, in honor of their sacrifice and continuous effort to protect the safety and health of the people from the outbreak.
UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi presented the award to National Security Council deputy director-general Datuk Rodzi Md Saad during a brief ceremony at Menara Dato’ Onn, Putra World Trade Center.
It will be given to 16 agencies (first list) involved in the various tasks of managing, controlling and restoring the country from the Covid-19 outbreak.
The agencies are the National Security Council (MKN), Ministry of Health, Royal Malaysian Police, Malaysian Armed Forces, Fire and Rescue Department, Volunteer Department (RELA), Civil Defense Force, Immigration Department. Customs Department, Department of Social Welfare, Malaysian Communications & Multimedia Commission (MCMC), Radio Television Malaysia (RTM), Media Prima Berhad, Astro, National News Agency (BERNAMA) and Pos Malaysia Berhad.
Zahid said he appreciated the contributions and sacrifices of all the agencies as well as many others including individuals. He said the ceremony of awarding certificates and goodwill awards to other agencies would be officiated by Datuk Seri Ahmad bin Maslan, UMNO Secretary-General at a later date.
Earlier, Zahid held a video conference with 13 Chairman of the State UMNO Liaison and 3 representatives of the UMNO Overseas Club. The 1 hour and 10 minute video conferencing was conducted through the Webex application.
At 9.00am, the UMNO Secretary-General concluded a ceremony to raise the UMNO flag ,
The flag-raising event was accompanied by the singing of UMNO song.
