KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 25 – Umno today expressed its gratitude to His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Dipertuan Agong and the Malay Rulers for the wisdom in adressing the country’s political turmoil.

“In line with the words of His Majesty Tuanku and in line with UMNO’s wishes to call for a political ceasefire, I hope the entire political party leadership will strengthen the ranks at all levels and focus on tackling the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic the well-being of the people ”’.

That is the assertion of UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in a statement here, which reads:

“UMNO would like to express its thanks and gratitude to His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Dipertuan Agong n and the Malay Rulers for their wisdom in addressing the country’s political turmoil.

“In line with His Majesty’s message of hope, as well as in line with UMNO’s wishes to call for a political ceasefire, I hope the entire political party leadership strengthens the ranks at all levels and further focuses on tackling the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic for well-being the people.

“Ibrah from this episode clearly teaches us that in implementing any major steps by the government require a consensus of all parties. Therefore, it is appropriate to start a national reconciliation initiative that includes political, economic, social and security agendas.

“The people need to be a priority at this time. Hard work must be embodied in finding a balance between managing the Covid-19 epidemic and the economic of the people. I call on all political leadership to be truly sincere in achieving this goal.

“I once again take this opportunity to uphold the love of His Majesty Tuanku and pray that Allah SWT continues to bestow good health for His Majesty.”
