KUALA LUMPUR, March 10 – UMNO Honorary Treasurer Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor called on party members to strengthen UMNO because its struggle remains relevant for the sake of religion, race and sovereignty of the country.
He said that principles of UMNO has not changed, whether as the government, opposition or supporting the government. It is also criticised by many parties, namely not only the opponents or former UMNO leaders but from within.
“There is no need to tarnish the party’s image or the leadership. If you feel you are better than them, contest in the party elections. In the meantime, respect the presidential institutions because they are the ones who decide for the party and for the betterment of all Malaysians.
“If you don’t want to remember their services, its fine but don’t smear the party and institutions that have built,” he said in a statement via Facebook, today.
He said UMNO’s motto ‘Berkhidmat, Bersetia dan Berkhidmat’ is to spearhead the struggle for national aspirations in order to maintain the dignity and prestige of religion, race and country, and it is clearly enshrined in its UMNO Constitution.
“… But someone said UMNO now has no direction… no future? They who said that are actually those who failed to appreciate UMNO’s struggle… or is there something else?
“UMNO has been the backbone of the government for more than 60 years, it has learned to be the opposition and today is part of the government for a year now… the basis of UMNO’s struggle also remains the same and has not changed.”
He who is also Putrajaya Member of Parliament added that members today certainly know that support for the party is not just for individuals or personal interests because if that is the axis, the party will fall.
“It is true that after May 9, 2018, the party saw many people had a change of heart but they were replaced by loyals, and in the party election that year, many have tried democratically. They stayed on with the party because they are confident and certain of the truth. ”
