KUALA LUMPUR, May 29 – President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi hopes Malaysians will fully observe the first phase 14-day full lockdown beginning June 1st to contain the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We will enter total lockdown for 14 days on June 1st. This is a measure to bring down the number of new infection cases as it has reached an alarming state.
“This situation can escalate in the half-baked Movement Control Order and excuses for the Emergency Ordinance. There is no U-turn in this. Its a total war that we need to face together.
“We don’t have any choice. If we fail, it will prolong much longer,” he said in a Facebook posting.
The Bagan Datuk Member of Parliament said had the people faced lockdown during the cases were at hundreds, it is now clamped when it was over 8,000.
“This is entirely a different war but we must win. The 14-day period will not come as a short one for some of us who are facing multiple living predicaments,” he said.
However, it will also not easy for the rest as they have their own problems.
“Let us take care of each other. I pray our multiracial society will be as one in making the total lockdown a success. May the pandemic leave us.”
