SEPANG, June 19 – The Palestinian Humanitarian Aid Mission under Umno’s Welfare Bureau left for Gaza early today to assist the Palestinians badly affected by Israeli atrocity.
Secretary General Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan who was at the KLIA to see them off wished a safe return trip. They 30-member team was lead by the bureau chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim.
Ahmad was representing party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
“The president fully blessed and supported the mission. I wish you a safe journey, hoping it will be successful in aiding the Palestinians around al-Aqsa and others. This is not much but it means a lot to them because they are in difficulty,” he said in a brief press conference at the airport.
He said Umno’s suppoprt for the Palestinian cause goes back many years and it had been consistent in providing them humanitarian aid.
“May Allah SWT bless us all.”
The Pontian Member of Parliament explained the Palestinians comprise about 2 million in Gaza, 3.5 million in Ramallah, 1.5 million in Israeli-controlled territories and 6 million outside Palestine, especially in neighboring countries as refugees.
Umno has also launched a special fund for the Palestinians, namely the Palestinian Consensus Fund.
Earlier, Abdul Azeez said the mission members were, amongst all buoyed by the president and the Supreme Working Council (MKT) members.
“Our journey is based on Hablum Minallah and Hablum Minannas and as discussed with the top Al-Aqsa management, they live in poor conditions due to the the Jews bombing, no toilet, no sound system for the call to prayer at the mosque. They asked for a small donation to repair the damage.
“There is also aid to be distributed to about 1,000 Palestinians at the border.”
