UMNO is for the people – Zahid

KUALA LUMPUR, June 23 – Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said those who say Umno is irrelevant are actually day dreaming for coming out with negative prophecies about the party.

The Umno President and Bagan Datuk MP describes the party as a candle in the dark for shedding light for the people and although it used to face torrid time, it grows even stronger.

“We still stand tall. My friends, Umno was established on tears and sacrifices. It was formed in a palace and became the largest Malay party since May 11, 1946. It fought the Malayan Union and for the survival of the Malays.

“Umno upholds the monarchy. So are the Malay interest and religion as it is a party of Malay nationalism and Islam. That is why it is still in the hearts of the Malays,” he said in a Facebook posting.

However, Umno had never sidelined the rights of the non-Malays. This was proven when it was the government for over 60 years.

“Dear friends of Umno. The party will continue its struggle in the next general election. Let’s stand united and remain strong.

“The march to GE15 is more noble, in the name of truth and responsibility. We will always be with the people.”
