Speed up relief effort, says Sec-Gen

AYER LIMAU, Dec 29 – Many flood victims need financial assistance due to natural disasters that have caused severe damage to their homes, said Secretary-General Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.
In this situation, he urged all parties involved, especially the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) to facilitate the distribution of any form of assistance to the victims immediately.
“We hope the assistance from the Federal Government and NADMA will be expedited fast, including the RM1,000 financial aid. We also hope the RM200 from the Melaka State Government. This means that flood victims in Melaka get a total of RM1,200.
“It is also understood that if there are houses destroyed due to floods, the Federal will provide assistance, which is separate for home repairs.
“In the recent 2022 Budget, the government has approved assistance of RM150 for each child who goes to school to buy school equipment and books destroyed by the floods. Expedite it fast,” he said at Japerun Ayer Limau Complex, Lubok China here, yesterday.
Also present were Ayer Limau State Assemblyman Datuk Hameed Mytheen Kunju Basheer, Melaka State Assembly Speaker Datuk Ibrahim Durum and Melaka State Umno Women Chief Datuk Latipah Omar.
Ahmad who is also Pontian MP was representing the party President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in aiding the flood victims in the constituency.
