Umno relations with Arab World inseparable – Ahmad

KUALA LUMPUR, June 9 – Umno pledges to strengthen existing ties with the Arab World for global peace and security, says Secretary-General Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.

In a dinner gathering led by Umno President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamid, he says both parties should look into more openings to bring the relations to a greater height.

At the event hosted by Palestinian Ambassador Waled Abu Ali, other envoys from Yemen, Somalia, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Oman, Lubnan, Qatar, Kuwait, Algeria, Iraq, Libya, Morocco, Sudan and Bahrain were present.

Accompanying Zahid were Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir and Youth Chief Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.

“Mostly our discussion was centered at how we could further enhance our relations, and also the plight of the Palestinians. Their issue is always at our heart, and we will explore more ways to assist them.

“We have to understand that they are all over the world, including in Malaysia. That is why we must aid them and find a diplomatic channel to end the Israeli oppression against them,” he says.
