Zahid and Shahril question Rafizi’s motive

KUALA LUMPUR, June 26 – Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi described Rafizi Ramli’s action in disparaging the party’s proposal to set up a National Poultry Board as not a surprise.
In a FB posting, the party president said the people have certainly not forgotten how Rafizi’s ‘formulas’ include all sorts of so-called methods to manage the country’s finances.
Rafizi belittled Umno’s proposal to set up the National Poultry Board to address the cost of living and the country’s food security problems. https://www.malaysiakini.com/news/626054
“He said the proposal would waste the people’s money and add more bureaucracy. But he himself proposed to create an independent body to manage the risk of food supply. Wouldn’t that add more bureaucracy and to some extent use people’s money?
“This is not the first time Rafizi has given self-contradictory suggestions or criticism. We all still remember who he was and the various deceptive propaganda that has been spread to Malaysians since GE-13 through his “Rebuild the Nation” campaign,” he said.
Zahid further highlighted how everything that was promised before the last general election.
“We all remember? Various formulas for free tolls, free education and all sorts of methods to supposedly manage the country’s finances better. But when Pakatan Harapan became the government, everything is just a promise. They said debt remains debt, and that the manifesto is not scripture.
“Not like Umno. In the issue of food security, we are always consistent. As I suggested earlier, there should be cross-ministerial coordination through the reactivation of the National Subsistence Action Council (NACCOL) and the implementation of targeted assistance packages based on the latest data on the needy.”
On the same matter, Information Chief Shahril Hamdan said what Rafizi was carries no logic and substance.
“He proposed the creation of a buffer stock. When there is a buffer stock, it can be injected into the market when there is a supply disruption that causes a sharp rise in price, as it is now.
“I agree, and this has already been done. On 23 May 2022, the government of Prime Minister Dato ‘Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the decision to create a buffer stock through the existing cold room storage facility owned by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAFI).
“Recently, Rafizi criticized Umno’s proposal to address the rising cost of chicken prices. I feel good when so many politicians care about this big issue. I just hope that if possible, the idea given is a new idea, or a logical idea. If possible,” Shahril said.
