KUALA LUMPUR, July 28 – Secretary-General Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan suggested for a law on political funding be enacted to avoid any party being turned into scapegoats by self-vested interest individual.
In a FB posting, he said the Political Funding Bill has yet to tabled at the Dewan Rakyat as its session is almost end.
“It was raised during the era of Datuk Seri Najib Razak but it was set aside after BN lost. When Pakatan Harapan took over, the Bill was chucked aside while selective and political prosecution was rampant.
“Political critic was victimised. When I refused to dissolve Umno, me and friends were made ‘scapegoats’ under the pretext of political funding and donation. Ironically, those in their camp were not brought to justice until today,” he said.
Ahmad gave his assurance that should BN wins the 15th general election, the Bill will be tabled.
“This is our promise. Don’t give up the struggle. The time will come.”
