I don’t trust politician ulama, says Zahid

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 3 – Umno President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he doesn’t trust ulama or pious leaders having their footings in politics because they keep changing according to their personal needs.

He said while he respect any other ulamas, he has less respect for political ones.

“I am not citing anybody, its in general. You can evaluate them,” he said in a NR Channel program ‘Jawab, Saya Tanya’ with moderator Rafi Awang Kechik yesterday.

The Bagan Datuk MP also question the absent of such leaders during voting for the Anti-Hopping Law at the Dewan Rakyat last week.

Meanwhile, Zahid who is also BN Chairman said the coalition should by now get ready for the next general election.

“The Registrar of Societies (RoS) has approved Umno’s application to hold the party election within six months after the general election. So, party election issue should be buried for the time being and focus must be given to win the election.

“Forget about winning any position in the party. Together, we secure victory in trhe 15th general election,” he said.

On question of candidacy, Zahid said it will still be based on the WALI (winnable, acceptable and likeable) concept he introduced for Melaka and Johor state elections.
